1. World Autism Day
Autism is a neural developmental disorder that affects their ability to socialize normally by impairing their ability to communicate and interact whether verbally or non-verbally.
World Autism Awareness Day was established on December 18, 2007 by the United Nations to recognize and celebrate the rights of persons with autism. This year’s observance is centered on the public health crisis that places persons with autism at disproportionate risk as a result of the corona virus and its impact on society.
To Celebrate - "The rights of persons with autism must be taken into account in the formulation of all responses to the COVID-19 virus. On World Autism Awareness Day, let us stand together, support each other and show solidarity with persons with autism."
— António Guterres, Secretary-General UN.
2. National Burrito Day
Burritos are one of those meals that never get old. The vairieties are never-ending. A burrito is a dish in Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine consisting of a flour tortilla wrapped into a sealed cylindrical shape around various ingredients. The tortilla is sometimes lightly grilled or steamed to soften it, make it more pliable, and allow it to adhere to itself when wrapped. (I had to steal this one coz if i wanted to give my definition, I might end up writing a book about it).
National Burrito day is a day set aside to pay homage to this delicious meal. Meat, cheese, beans, rice, vegetables, and sauces, chicken - whatever you wanna stuff it with - just remember to share to others.
3. Children's Book Day
Children’s Book Day was founded by an international non-profit organization known as The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) in 1967. In order to promote the importance of literacy and reading to our children, IBBY works tirelessly to promote Children’s Book and Authors, and organize events in schools and libraries all over the world to get children reading.
For this year's observance of the holiday, the International Publishers Association (IPA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF have come together to commence the project "Read The World", in which children’s authors will be reading extracts of their books to millions of children and young people currently living in isolation amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Italian best-selling author, Elisabetta Dami will be reading on her personal Instagram account in English from 15.00-15.30 GMT 17.00-17.30 CET. She will also respond to comments and questions via the platform.
To celebrate check out https://www.instagram.com/elisabetta.dami.official/ or visit UNICEF site to learn more. But if you can't do any of those that's no excuse not to join in the celebration. You can still pick or search up children's books online and read out to your little ones at home.
