1. International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is an yearly observance that celebrates the power of sport to influence social change, community development and promote peace and understanding.

For this year 2020, FIFA has joined forces with the United Nations (UN) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in supporting a move known as  the #BeActive campaign which was launched to encourage people to be #HealthyAtHome as the world comes together in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, today and every day.

This involves recommendations by WHO for all healthy adults to do at least 30 minutes a day of physical activity and children at least 60 minutes per day. Including sport suggestions such as, muscle strength and balance training, jumping rope, dancing, taking online exercise classes and playing active video games.

Still on the concerns of sports, today is also,

2. World Table Tennis Day

Although, it has been re-named "World Table Tennis At Home Day" by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) due to COVID-19 lock-down in several countries.

World Table Tennis Day is a day set aside table tennis lovers to spread their love for the sport and get people interested in it.

To join in the celebration, if you have a little courtyard in your house or tennis board you could play tennis with your family. If you don't have a board, it will be fun to make one and enjoy the game later, but if you can't make one you could watch tennis ball games with your family at home, learn more about the game on the internet - coz its actually got some interesting history on it - and also don't forget to include hashtag #worldtabletennisday on your social media posts today.

3. National Student-Athlete Day

National Student Athlete Day was founded by the National Consortium for Athletics and Sports. It's a day that celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of student athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom.

As this is another celebration of sports and as we are still obliged to stay home due to the corona pandemic we can observe this holiday by putting up pictures of student-athletes you know and praising them for the work they've done so far. If you're one of them, you can go ahead and appreciate yourself, as long as it is done around your home.

4. New Beer's Eve Day

For all brew lovers anywhere in the world today, get ready coz its your time to celebrate!! Now, first let me amaze you with the history behind this celebration.

Once upon a time, in the year 1920, The Government ratified the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, banning all intoxicating liquors, including beer, beginning the period of American history we now know as Prohibition. Thankfully, in 1933, the US Government saw the light, and President Roosevelt decided that this frothy brew should once again flow liberally in the taverns and bars of the country thereby ending the Prohibition. The first 24 hours of the end of the prohibition saw an estimated 1.5 million gallons of beer consumed.

The date was April 7th, so now New Beer’s Eve is celebrated each year on April 6th.

To join in the celebration, grab a beer and toast to your ability to drink it!

But remember, drink responsibly and not applicable for those under 18.

5. National Siamese Cats Day

The Siamese cat is one of the first distinctly recognized breeds of Asian cat. Also known as “Meezers,” these elegant cats are one of the most popular cat breeds in the world.

For lovers of cat, April 6th is the 'purrfect day' to celebrate your siamese cat.

6. Plan Your Epitaph Day

To some it may be a bit morbid, creepy also but to some it may be interesting. I know what your thinking, like why make such holidays right??

There comes a time in everyone's life where they have to face the inevitable and Plan Your Epitaph day only encourages you to think about how you want to be known as or addressed on that day.

An Epitaph is a short text honoring a deceased person. Simply put, it refers to a text that is inscribed on a tombstone or plaque. Your Epitaph has to be that one thing that is remembered forever about you, even by those who never knew you.

So set aside today to perfectly plan your last words to yourself.

7. National Caramel Popcorn Day

Popcorn itself is one of the most selected delightful treats for anyone. But this day is specially dedicated to unique form of popcorn, a favorite to many - The Amazing Caramel Popcorn!!

To celebrate, here's a quick recipe for you...

INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup unpopped corn kernels / 10-12 cups popped popcorn

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

- 3/4 cup butter

- 1 cup packed brown sugar

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

LET'S COOK...

- Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (95 degrees C).

- For unpopped corn kernels: Warm 3 corn kernels and the oil in a large lidded saucepan over medium heat. When the kernels pop, add the rest of the corn kernels to the pan, shake to coat with oil, and put the lid on the pan. Pop the corn, shaking the pan occasionally, until the popping slows. Empty the popped corn immediately into a large heat-proof bowl.

- But if the corn is popped place it in a very large bowl.

- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar until the sugar is completely moistened. Add corn syrup and salt. Increase the heat to medium high and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, boil for 3-4 minutes while stirring and scraping the bottom of the pan continuously. (Boil for a minute less if cooking on an electric stove.)

-  Remove from heat and stir in soda and vanilla. The sugar mixture will bubble up violently. Continue stirring until you form a thick, glossy sauce.

- Pour in a thin stream over popcorn, while stirring to coat. Continue stirring the sauce into the popcorn until all of the kernels are coated.

- Place in two large shallow baking dishes and bake in preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, for 1 hour.

- Remove from oven and let cool completely before serving.

Bon Appetit!!
